β¦ Synopsis
We studied the effects of celiprolol on 24 hr. ambulatory blood pressure and hemodynamics at rest and during exercise in patients with mild or moderate essential hypertension. 400 mg/day of celiprolol alone was orally administered once a day for 12 weeks. As exercise test, 1.25 W/kg was loaded for 6 min., by using bicycle ergometer at the supine position. In the results, I) Resting blood pressure was significantly reduced by celiprolol.
- There was no apparent difference between control and treatment periods in the variability of 24-hr. ambulatory blood pressure. 3) For the hemodynamic effect at rest, cardiac output did not show any significant change, but total peripheral resistance significantly decreased. 4) For the hemodynamic effect on exercise-loading, the increasing degree of the blood pressure, heart rate and cardiac output were inhibited by using this drug. We concluded that celiprolol was a useful antΒ±hypertensive drug in regard to 24 hr. ambulatory blood pressure and hemodynamic at rest and exercise.
