A very high S-deuterium kinetic isotope effect, k(CH3)/k(CD3) =2.l3 at ~o'c, was found for the solvolysis of 2-(3'-chlorophenyl)-l,l,l-trifluoro-2propyl tosylate(&) and the a-CD3 analogue
