✦ Synopsis

a generalized equation is established for nonlinear operation of a distillation column processing a number of feeds and producing several side-cut streams. The equation is derived for the rectification of a binary mixture where the liquid and vapor flows may not be constant because of the variation of the saturated liquid and vapor enthalpies with concentration. The development is valid for a partial condenser. The effects of the thermal condition of external streams, including the reflux, are taken into account.
