Thames Water to refurbish Deepham sewage works

T hames Water is spending £50 mil- lion on an upgrade of its Deepham sewage works in east London.

The work involves rebuilding the sewage works' inlet, where sewage enters the works, and fitting a new pumping station and better screens to sieve out debris. Two new storm tanks will also be built to hold excess sewage flows, and self-cleaning devices will be fitted to existing storm tanks to ensure that they empty more quickly and reduce odour.
