✦ Synopsis


A copper(II) coordination polymer, bis(isonicotinato)copper(II) dihydrate, was prepared using a hydro(solvo)thermal process and characterized by a single-crystal X-ray di4raction method and elemental analysis.

023, and wR 2 ‫؍‬ 0.058. The structure is a three-dimensional metal+organic coordination network containing diamond-shaped tunnels. Magnetic studies show that the magnetic susceptibility data in the temperature range 2.0+300 K can be 5tted to a Curie+Weiss law with ‫؍‬ ؊ 0.93 K and C ‫؍‬ 0.398 emu K/mol (s ‫؍‬ 1 2 , g ‫؍‬ 2.06), which corresponds to an e4ective magnetic moment ( eff ) per copper ion of 1.78 BM. The magnetism result indicates that there is no strong interaction between copper centers within the network structure. 2001 Academic Press
