## Abstract The ultrastructure of scalariform junctions in the Malpighian tubules of the hemipteran __Rhodnius prolixus__ and the dipteran __Aedes taeniorhynchus__ is described. Both autocellular and intercellular scalariform junctions are illustrated. This is the first report of scalariform juncti
