Spire will share the cost of US$5.2 million with the US National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) to develop automated manufacturing processes for PV modules as large as 10 x 8 feet, or five times the size of current standard modules. RE hybrid street lighting

A hybrid solar PV and wind powered outdoor streetlight that requires no grid connection has been installed in Wales, UK. The Hybrolight, designed and developed by UK specialists EETS Ltd of Cardiff, is a light for both municipal and commercial spaces and is powered by a combination of integrated wind turbine and the power collected from ordinary daylight through a PV array.
