โฆ Synopsis
By means of quasielastic neutron scattering on Yb-doped SrCeO 3 we have studied the atomistic proton diffusion mechanism in proton conducting perovskites simultaneously in space and time. Proton diffusion consists of a sequence of trapping and free diffusion events. The free diffusion corresponds to the Grotthus mechanism including very fast rotations around oxygen ions.
