✦ Synopsis
Electrical conductance of "aged" HBr solutions in anhydrous benzonitrile in the concentration range 1.98 x lo-*-l*47 x 1O-2 mole/l has been investigated. The values of ho, K and a, calculated by the various extrapolation techniques for weak electrolytes are respectively 11.8 mho/cm, 2.2 x 1O-6 and 1.26 A. Two solid substrates of stoichiometric compositions corresponding to C,H,CN.HBR and C,H,CN.2HBr have been isolated, and their structural and physical properties have been investigated. The conductance/time effect is considered in the light of the possible chemical interactions in the system.
