X-Ray photoelectron and infrared spectroscopies are used to analyse the electronic displacements on changing the ligands in RhCICOLz complexes, particularly with Ph 3-,, P(N{), (n = I ,2,3) aminophosphines. In the free aminophosphines, a back donation from N to P is shown, whereas in the rhodium com
