β¦ Synopsis
We have studied by various methods (conductimetry, ionic activity measurement, viscometry, ultracentrifugation) the formation of poly(ethylene oxide)-sodium dodecylsulphate complex, focusing attention on the influence of polymer molecular weight. The net charge of the complex is calculated and its hydrodynamical behaviour is compared to that of a simple polyelectrolyte of the same charge density. The molecular weight dependence of the intrinsic viscosity is of the classical Mark-Houwink form.
