✦ Synopsis


We report on a new type of hybrid broadband superfluorescent fiber source (SFS) that uses a thulium-doped fluoride fiber (TDF) and an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) pumped by semiconductor diode lasers. This source has a total emission power of about 28 mW. A power density of more than )20 dBm/nm was obtained for over 150 nm, from 1460 to 1610 nm. A power density stability better than 0.05 dB/nm was also observed. Moreover, the generation of broadband SFSs in the S band and C + L band will also be discussed.
