✦ Synopsis
The limitations of the finite-difference method can be complemented by the conformal mapping for the analysis of shielded strip lines. The hybrid approach of these two methods becomes a simplified and efficient procedure. In this study, to simulate the quasistatic two-dimensional analysis, two structures of shielded strip lines are carried out by personal computer. The associated numerical results are compared with those of other in¨estigations.

A kinematic method of slices has been used in this article to deal with the stability problems of strip foundations subjected to uplift loads. The method is based on the upper bound theorem of limit analysis and satis"es the kinematic admissiblility of the chosen collapse mechanism. Assuming the glo
