We have all probably seen the discussion on the new Ordnance Survey map symbols. A reader has sent me an interesting ergonomic comment from which I am quoting. I offer him my apologies for some Procrustean chopping of his contribution! To help my readers I present, also, a photograph of the map under discussion. The lack of colour makes the picture more confusing than it is in practice, but it does illustrate my correspondent's point.
