Abstract

Grignard and trichlorosilane coupling methods have been applied to the synthesis of surface‐modified silicas carrying alkyl chains of varying length, terminally substituted by a hydroxyl group. The new phases have been characterized chromatographically using aromatic hydrocarbons, substituted anilines and metal acetylacetonates.
