โฆ Synopsis
Far too many people got killed in these stories and their passing was celebrated with rather too loving attention to detail. (Chandler, 1950) It is Sunday afternoon .... The wife is already asleep ... the children have been sent out .... You put your feet up ...[after a wonderful meal] ... the air is warm and stagnant. In these blissful circumstances, what is it that you want to read about?
Naturally, about a murder. (Orwell, 1965) Homicide is an intriguing subject.... Consider the near universality of homicidal thoughts, which contrasts so vividly with the rarity of murderous deeds. (Yarvis, 1991) I am interested in our interest in murder. Specifically, I am drawn to the increasingly blurry borderline between real murder and fictional murder, between murder as news and murder as art, between event and story. (Lesser, 1993) S56 Taylor
