✦ Synopsis

Intense diffraction from a periodic array of microscopic bubbles is reported. The bubbles are generated by 100 ps, 1.06 tin, pulses from .I Nd : YAG laser which are crossed at a liquid-dielectric interface. The time dependence of the diffraction yields information on surfxe bubble expansion, contraction, and migration. The mechanism for the production of the bubble vrttinps is described. z
