Rockwood and Elementis. Cathay Pigments (originally known as Advanced Chemicals) began manufacturing synthetic iron oxides in China in 1984. It is a privately owned company, with 30 offices, blending and manufacturing facilities spread across five continents. As well as iron oxides, it also manufactures food colorants and organic pigments.
