✦ Synopsis
Fluorescence-excitation spectra and hole-burning spectra are recorded for jet-cooled complexes of anthracene with dimethylaniline (DMA) and dimethyl-ptoluidine (DMPT). The existence of isomeric forms (two in the first and three in the latter case) is evidenced. One of these forms (E form) showing broad-band absorption and exciplex-like emission spectra probably corresponds to a stacked configuration of donor and acceptor molecules. The T-shaped and stacked/displaced configurations are proposed for the forms R characterized by narrow-band absorption and resonant fluorescence. The relation between the excited-state isomerization threshold and the IVR onset is discussed.
