✦ Synopsis
HOFEM07 -International workshop on high-order finite element methods, 2007
The international workshop dedicated to high-order finite element methods was held at Herrsching am Ammersee (near Munich), Germany from 17-19 May, 2007. Over the past couple of years the p-and hp-versions of FEMs have witnessed a rapid growth in the field of non-linear solid mechanics and fluid mechanics simulation, so the major aim of this workshop was to focus on recent developments in the mathematical foundations and recent results in p-and hp-FEM, as well as the applicability of these methods in engineering practice. The main objective was to bring together researchers involved in mathematical and engineering practice as well as the computational aspects of p-and hp-(and high-order/spectral) methods. It provided a forum for interaction between a broad group of scientists and engineers with diverse interests in the mathematical and engineering application of p-and hp-methods. Both industrial and academic topics were presented by well-known worldwide experts delivering lectures in plenary, regular and poster sessions.
About 70 participants from 17 different countries took part in the workshop.
