BOOK REVIEWS
the universities are to become effective leaders then restructuring and rethinking in both money and politics must begin soon. Perhaps the events in Paris last year were the first rumblings of change.
Mr Drucker's mood throughout this book is that of restrained optimism. If his diagnosis is correct, and I am inclined to think for the most part it is, we have reached a point of fundamental change in human society. We do have a choice and in that sense his optimism is justified. Human society may be about to emerge from the dark ages. However, if mankind's track record to date is anything to judge by, I doubt it Mr Drucker, I very much doubt it.
