β¦ Synopsis
young mice will seriously interfere with the normal histogenesis and morphogenesis of the oral hard tissues, the teeth and jaws (Burstone, '50). The isotope P32, the half life of which is 14.3 days, emits beta rays with a maximum energy of about 1700 kilovolts. Since phosphorus is so widely metabolized throughout the tissues of the body, and especially so in the osseous structures, it is apparent that the radioactive phosphorus metabolized in the oral region would subject the adjacent structures to continuous irradiation. A review of the literature has failed to reveal experimental studies dealing with this problem. METHOD

The purpose of this experimental study was to examine the transient response of a chemostat-type continuous culture of Escherichia coli B to step changes in tamperature by following transient limiting substrate concentration and calculating from it the transient growth rate. The transient response t
