✦ Synopsis

Libraries of peptides in which a centrally located linker group is introduced to deliberately disrupt the ordered backbone structure and allow the flanking amino acid sidechains to cluster together are called "hinge" or "hairpin" peptide libraries. Screening of these libraries with bioassays directed towards breast cancer and multiple sclerosis has yielded promising new leads in the search for novel therapeutic entities to treat these diseases. Drug Dev. Res. 42:157-163, 1997.
