Although Hilbert created no new set-theoretic theorems, he had a profound effect on the development of set theory by his advocacy of its importance. This article explores Hilbert's interactions with set theory, as expressed in his published work and especially in his unpublished lecture courses. Le présent article examine les interactions de Hilbert avec la théorie des ensembles telles qu'elles apparaissent dans ses oeuvres publiées, mais surtout dans ses notes de cours inédites.
