A new pyrene-containing fluorescent sensor has been synthesized from 2,3,3-trimethylindolenine. Spectroscopic and photophysical properties of sensor are presented. The large change in fluorescence intensity (I/I 0 = 0.13) at 381 nm and affinity to Hg 2+ over other cations such as K + , Na + , Ca 2+

The conjugated polymer P-1 could be synthesized by the polymerization of 4,7-diethynyl-benzo[2,1,3] thiadiazole (M-1) and 1,4-bis[3 0 -(N,N-diethylamino)-1 0 -oxapropyl]-2,5-diiodobenzene (M-2) via Pdcatalyzed Sonogashira reaction. The water-soluble conjugated polyelectrolyte P-2 could be obtained b
