initial two-dimensional layer. This critical thickness decreases monotonically with increasing indium concentration x and is essentially zero for x = 1.0. The same situation occurs for SLSs when a sublayer lattice constant differs significantly from that of the previously grown layer. This implies that an SLS with good two-dimensional morphology is limited by the intrinsic tendency of an epitaxial layer to assume a three-dimensional morphology.
