Young Fiona Douglas is a bold and daring lass, traits that are not ideal for the oldest daughter of a Laird. After her father's death, Fiona receives a letter from her uncle, informing her that she will be brought to his castle to marry. Fiona is eager to begin her new life and expects her new husband or one of his servants to escort her on her trip.

Instead, a warrior with long hair who doesn't seem like a noble comes to Braenaird Castle to accompany her to her new home. Daividh Campbell is a fierce warrior, hardened as few men have been. When he was tasked by his Laird, whom he serves faithfully, to fetch his niece, he was displeased to carry out a task unworthy of his abilities.

Fiona finds Daividh rude at first, but she can not deny that this huge, brute man creates emotions to her that she has never experienced before. While they travel, Daividh soon discovers that Fiona is not the typical naive noble girl but an audacious young woman full of life.

Their trip is not as smooth as they expected, and tension is building between them every step of the way. Daividh begins to feel very attracted to her, but his sense of duty gets in the way. When they finally arrive at their destination, Fiona realizes that her future husband is nothing like she expected! Daividh is devastated to see that he was leading her into danger instead of safety.

Daividh becomes furious and wants to break every rule and save her, but his muscles and sword will not be enough this time...
