Abstract
We review the recent proposal for the full string spectrum on AdS~5~ × S^5^ at the higher spin symmetry enhancement point and its agreement with the free SYM spectrum. The spectrum exhibits a hidden symmetry structure larger than expected, with bosonic subgroup SO(10,2) and thirty‐two supercharges. A similar correspondence is found between the spectra on warped AdS~d + 1~ × S^9−d^ compactifications and d‐dimensional SYM theories.
