The PP plant, which is slated for completion in 2009, will feature Spherizone technology from Basell. HMC currently has two plants that use Basell's Spheripol technology with a total capacity for 450,000 tonne/y. Meanwhile, energy company PTT announced its intention to buy a 40% stake in HMC by Aug 2006 through the acquisition of new and existing shares for a reported $250 M. Basell, which has an estimated 42% interest, said it expects to remain a major shareholder in HMC after the planned purchase.
