✦ Synopsis
We investigated the processes of hydration/dehydration and carbonation/decarbonation as an approach to provide higher-surface-area mixed metal oxides that are more active electrochemically. These materials are candidates for use as electrocatalysts and electrocatalyst supports for alkaline electrolyzers and fuel cells. For the case of the perovskite, LaCoO,, we achieved higher surface areas with no change in structure and a more active oxygen electrocatalyst.
