## Abstract Peptides are the largest class of signalling molecules found in animals. Nevertheless, in most proteomic studies peptides are overlooked since they literally fall through the mazes of the net. In analogy with proteomics technology, where all proteins expressed in a cell or tissue are an

The metabolic rate decreases dramatically as a function of age in the nematode worm Caenorhabditis elegans. Superoxide anion production, which is tightly linked to oxygen consumption, and thus to metabolic rate, drops to a 20-fold lower level in 10-day-old, senescent worms, as compared to 4-day-old

## Abstract The stomatogastric nervous system (SNS) associated with the foregut was studied in 3rd instar larvae of __Drosophila melanogaster__ and __Calliphora vicina__ (blowfly). In both species, the foregut comprises pharynx, esophagus, and proventriculus. Only in __Calliphora__ does the esophag
