Abstract
A complete analysis of the proton coupled ^13^C spectrum of butadieneiron tricarbonyl is presented. The structure of the diene ligand is discussed on the basis of vicinal C,H and H,H coupling constants as well as ^2^J(HH), ^1^J(CH) and ^1^J(CC) data. These data are interpreted in terms of a nonβplanar C,H skeleton in which C,C bond lengths are nearly equal and the terminal carbon atoms exhibit some rehybridization towards sp^3^. The results obtained from the complex in solution agree with a structural model from Xβray data of substituted butadieneiron tricarbonyl complexes.

## Abstract In order to study the structure dependence of the ^13^C,H coupling constants in polycyclic conjugated Ο electron systems with 5βand 7βmembered rings, the ^1^H coupled ^13^C NMR spectra of aceheptylene, azulene and 5βazaazulene have been analysed. The results are discussed, including pub
