✦ Synopsis

The high-resolution vibration-rotation emission spectrum of the ({ }^{2} \Sigma^{+})ground state of calcium hydride has been recorded with a Bruker Fourier transform spectrometer. The gas-phase free radical has been generated in a ceramic furnace by the reaction of elemental calcium with molecular hydrogen in an electrical discharge. Two vibrational bands, the fundamental (v=1-0) and the (v) (=2-1) hot band, were observed. Rotational, centrifugal distortion, and spin-rotation interaction constants were determined with improved accuracy. (c) 1993 Academic Press. Inc.
