✦ Synopsis

The recrystallization behavior of titanium‐alloyed interstitial free steel has been investigated by means of high‐resolution ESBD measurements and TEM observations. The cold rolled material exhibits three types of microstructures characterized by their orientations and internal local misorientations, with nucleation starting from γ‐fiber but as well from other orientations. On comparison with TEM (see Figure for a TEM image of a 94 % cold‐rolled Fe‐36 % Ni sheet), the capability of ESBD for the observation of subgrain structures appears to be somewhat limited.

A comparison is proposed between results published recently on recrystallization of bcc (body-centered cubic) alloys such as Ti-IF steel and on face-centered cubic (fcc) material such as copper. The stored energy during the deformation by both crystallographic structures and the evolution of the mic
