✦ Synopsis
Kcccivctl 9 hL1y 1977 Usmg n chrgcd plrtlclc ov2llator Iic II disch.1rgc lamp, we have obtnined hg11 rcvhtlon 40.8 CV photoelectron spfcfrn of' the 3d core Icvels of' Zn and C:I In MetZn and Mc3C;a mpectwely, and tluz Pb 5d core levels in Ct4Pb. The overall in-\trumental rcu-htion IS between 25 rncV and 40 IncV for all spcctrn. Inl~rent core Icvcl widths for the Zn 3d (90.025 eV).
Ga 3d (GO.15 eV) and Pb 5d (~0.32 cV) energy leveis have been obtained from thcsc spectra. The hfc~Zr1 and hlc3Ga qxctra con&t of five pcnk\ due to tbc cornbmcd effects of spin orbit collpling and large non-cubx hgand field5 (the f$ term m the crystal flcld cxpmsion). In contrast, the i.&l'b 5d spcctru~n shows no appreciable IigJnd field splitting. as expected for rl tctrnllcdral rnolcculc.
