✦ Synopsis
2005 Cobalt I 7200 High-Pressure Synthesis and Structure of SrCo 6 O 11 : Pillared Kagome Lattice System with a 1/3 Magnetization Plateau. -The new title compound is prepared from equimolar mixtures of γ-NaxCoO2, SrCl2, and KClO4 as oxidizer (700 °C, 2 GPa, 30 min). As revealed by single crystal XRD, SrCo6O11 crystallizes in the hexagonal space group P63/mmc with Z = 2. The structure contains Co3O8 Kagome layers separated by two kinds of triangularly arranged Co-O pillars. One of the pillars, CoO 5 bipyramids, produces interesting magnetism such as plateaus in magnetization. -(ISHIWATA*, S.;
