β¦ Synopsis
A high-precision micro-combustion calorimeter was developed. Details of the calorimeter are described. The energy equivalent of the calorimeter and the standard deviation of the mean were determined to be (67.8330 Β± 0.0024) J β’ K -1 after calibration with thermochemical standard benzoic acid (five experiments). The standard enthalpy of combustion of anthracene was determined to be -(7065.0 Β± 1.1) kJ mol -1 .
