## Abstract We present a versatile high‐level programming‐language implementation of non‐linear topology optimization. Our implementation is based on the commercial software package FEMLAB, and it allows a wide range of optimization objectives to be dealt with easily. We exemplify our method by stu

✦ Synopsis
A system of bit map inverted files has been implemented on an interactive interpreter computer system (MUMPS-PC). This has made search performance previously available only in machine language available to the high-level language programmer. The superior flexibility of the technique over conventional inverted files is shown for retrievals including inequalities. Increased storage overhead for the bit maps is 32% as opposed to 126% for conventional inverted files. Typical bit map searches are about 10 times faster than exhaustive file searching.
