โœฆ Synopsis

New Ce Cu Fe Al Si bulk metallic glasses (BMGs) with large supercooled liquid regions ( T x , T x = T x -T g , where T g is the glass transition temperature and T x is the crystallization temperature) and high glass formation ability (GFA) were developed. Both Fe and Si elements are very effective to improve the GFA and enlarge T x of Ce-based BMGs. The T x in the Ce Cu Fe Al Si alloys reaches to 95 K and BMG rods could be prepared with diameters of 10 mm. In the Ce Cu Al Fe alloys, T g , T x and T x increase with increasing Fe content. The reduced glass transition temperatures (T rg = T g /T l , T l is the liquid temperature) of the present alloys are about 0.5-0.6 and thus much lower than those of other base BMG systems with high GFA.

The present article considers forward extrusion, closed-die forging and backward extrusion processes for fabrication of individual microcomponents from two bulk metallic glass (BMG) compositions: Mg 60 Cu 30 Y 10 and Zr 44 Cu 40 Ag 8 Al 8 . Two types of tooling were used in the present work: relativ

Bulk metallic glasses are adequate for micro-forming because of the viscous flow in the supercooled liquid state. The deformation behavior of Zr 41 Ti 14 Cu 12.5 Ni 10 Be 22.5 alloy under compression in the supercooled liquid state were investigated by using DSC and TMA. Based on the deformation beh
