✦ Synopsis

Abstract

This letter presents a band‐selectable LNA with high gain and low noise in 0.25‐μm RF CMOS technology. The proposed reconfigurable LNA uses two techniques: optimized spiral inductors and a switched capacitor technique. The gain and noise figure of the LNA are improved by using Q‐factor optimized inductors, which are designed with an octagonal shape having a peak Q‐factor at desired frequency bands. The high Q‐factor of the switched capacitor in parallel configuration at the load also increases the gain of the band‐selectable LNA. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
