Abnormalities of ascorbic acid metabolism have been reported in experimentally-induced diabetes and in diabetic patients. Ascorbate is a powerful antioxidant, a cofactor in collagen biosynthesis, and affects platelet activation, prostaglandin synthesis and the polyol pathway. This suggests a possibl
