## Abstract **Background:** Neointima formation is a characteristic feature of atherosclerosis and post‐angioplasty restenosis, in which various soluble factors and mechanical injury stimulate signalling pathways in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC), promoting their migration and proliferation, a
