In rat pancreatic islets, a rise in extracellular D-glucose concentration is known to cause a greater increase in the oxidation of D-[6-14C]glucose than utilization of D-[5-3H]glucose. In the present study, such a preferential stimulation of acetyl residue oxidation relative to glycolytic flux was m
