Abstract

A summary of the applications of the inverse electron demand Dielsโ€Alder reactions of heterocyclic and acyclic azadienes in the total synthesis of natural products is provided and a recent application in the total synthesis of nothapodytine B (mappicine ketone) is presented in detail.
