✦ Synopsis

Abstract

The preparation of the DIELS‐ALDER adduct of 1,4‐naphthoquinone and 5,5‐dimethoxy‐l,2,3,4‐tetrachlorocyclopentadiene is described and it is further shown how this adduct may be transformed into 1,2,3,4‐tetrachloroanthraquinone (30%), 1,2,3,4‐tetrachloro‐9‐anthrone (75%) and 2,3,4‐trichloroanthraquinone‐l ‐carboxylic acid methylester (84%).
