✦ Synopsis

Early on in our respective careers in the late 1960's, we both had the fortune to meet Henri at the Institut du Quaternaire, Universite ´de Bordeaux. It was an exciting experience to interact with one of the prominent pioneer geoarchaeologists, who understood both sides of the geoarchaeological coin. This early meeting was a prelude to later collaboration that lasted for more than a decade in the 1980's and 1990's, when he joined the excavations at Kebara and Hayonim Caves. His long experience with cave sediments provided key insights into unraveling the site formation history of these complex sites. His untimely death deprived us of his scientific skills and his warm, engaging personality. We miss him both as collaborator and friend.
