Abstract

A 72‐year‐old farmer developed vigorous hemiballistic movements on the right side of his body. The patient died three and one‐half months later. Postmortem examination revealed hemorrhage and encephalomalacia of the left subthalamic nucleus and neuroaxonal degeneration of the left substantia nigra. The hemiballism had not been suppressed despite the presence of a combined lesion.
