โœฆ Synopsis

Heat Treatment Induced point Defects in Lithium Metaniobate Single Crvetals Several investigators recently have shown great interest in lithium metaniobate (LiNbO3) single crystals, since the latter exhibits certain ferroelectric, piezoelectric and optical properties (NASSAU, LEVImEIN; NAUSSAU, LEVINSTEIN, LIACANO 1965, 1966). heat treatment in vacuum and in hydrogen atmosphere.

atmosphere of air and then subjected to singie-domain formation according to the procedure described (KLYUEV et al.).

Specimens used for the experiments were polished slices with dimensions of 20x10~3 mm containing no visible defects.

The specimens were heat treated in vacuum and in hydrogen at different temperatures during different time periods. After every experiment absorption spectra of the specimens
