โฆ Synopsis
The heat transfer between a fluid flowing through a packed bed and the wall is interpreted according to a one-dimensional model characterized by an overall heat transfer coefficient, h, and by two-dimensional models with one parameter, the effective thermal conductivity, k, or two parameters, the effective thermal conductivity A, and the wall heat transfer coefficient o, The experimental results for h,, k,, X, and a, are correlated as a function of Reynolds number, packing and tube diameter. The correlations with respect to the Reynolds number are all linear. Correlations between the parameters of the various models are also given.

If transient heat transfer occurs in a packed bed or a reaction is carried out on the pellets, the heterogeneity of the bed is essential because of the heat flow between pellets and gas. Global heat parameters for the packed bed, such ss d,,, and a,,,, are usually derived from homogeneous models. Th
