β¦ Synopsis
Diaphonics, a developer of voice-driven security technologies, has announced that System Planning Corp (SPC) has selected its speaker verification technology for a pilot project being run under the US Government's Operation Safe Commerce initiative. SPC is a subcontractor to the Ports of Seattle and Tacoma for the project, with Diaphonics' involvement through a subcontract with its systems integration partner, WR Systems.
The pilot project is designed to secure, monitor and track inter-modal shipping containers. Prior to sealing or unsealing the containers, authorized personnel will have to dial into Diaphonics' Spike Server, which will verify the caller's identity. Upon successful verification, the caller will be given authentication to seal or unseal the shipping container.
According to James Craig, president and CEO of Diaphonics: "Presently there are no systems that use voice biometrics to verify and track who has contact with shipping containers when they come into port or at any other stage of the journey."
